Backup recovery objectives

Plain-language summary of how quickly we get your data back if something goes wrong, and how we prove it. The full technical detail lives in our internal runbook; this page is kept current after every verification run.

Recovery Point Objective (RPO)

Up to 24 hours

We back up the whole system nightly at 02:17 UTC. In a worst case you lose nothing written after the last backup — on average far less.

Recovery Time Objective (RTO)

Under 1 hour

A full restore from the nightly backup takes minutes in our verified tests. We budget one hour to be safely back online.

How we prove it

Backups only count if they restore. An automated drill restores the latest backup into an isolated throwaway database, checks that key records are readable and complete, then deletes it. Live practice data is never touched. Drills run weekly.

What is backed up

• Both application databases (account records and practice records), nightly.
• Uploaded documents and files, nightly.
• Backups are retained for 30 days on encrypted-at-rest server storage.
